event – Samhain Dunoon – The Breadboy of Herculaneum
An invitation to a ritual ceremony honouring the forces of life as we move from summer to winter and light to dark.
Atists Anna Bokström and Nina Bacos joined Martin Gerrish and people of all ages are invited to this performance and participatory event at the Bullwood Nature Trail.
The aim was to share the Samhain event, walk the path up to the terrace and fire pit hosted by artist Nina Bacos, passing through places of Fear, Hope and Love, giving over these thoughts and feelings to the spirits of the festival.
On the terrace there will be a performance of the Samhain Ritual with music, dance and theatre, live-streamed with partners’ simultaneous ceremonies in Casa Pleiadi in Italy and Kulturmagasinet Bergkvara in Sweden.
Participants were invited to write whatever a message of release on cards which were placed in the Samhain fire. The Samhain fire will be conducted in a low-oxygen environment to retain the carbon of the firewood, the original building stone of life, in a stable form.
Please note that this will be an outdoor event, so wear warm outdoor clothing.
The event is free with donations welcomed to support the maintenance and future of the Bullwood Nature Trail.
